Apprentice wages from April 2025
Please reach us at teamapprenticeships@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Yes! We are always on the look-out for new talent for our employers. Contact us to see how we can help you find an apprenticeship or even work experience in a garage.
You will complete an Autocare Level 2 apprenticeship standard. As part of the programme, you will also complete qualifications in air conditioning and high-voltage vehicles.
You can find more information about the apprenticeship standard here.
This depends on your prior qualifications and age. If you already have GCSE grade 4 and above in English and maths, you will not need to resit. Also, if you are over 19 at the start of the apprenticeship, English and maths resits are completely optional.
However, we will continue to develop your English and maths as part of the training as these are really important skills to have. We'll just make it really relevant to your role.
This will depend upon the nature of your employer's business and how well you progress. We will always aim to support your progression to higher levels.
Any study should be carried out during your contracted work hours. You will be issued online learning and this should be completed at your place of work before you attend our academy for your practical block. You will also be given work-based tasks to complete back at work after the practical block finishes.
Off-the-job training is learning that takes place during your working hours, but outside of your usual day-to-day tasks. This could include attending the academy, online learning, shadowing experienced colleagues, practical skills development, or project work. By law, you must spend at least 6 hours per week (on average) on off-the-job training. Don't worry—we’ll work with you to plan and track this, ensuring it fits seamlessly with your work schedule.
You will attend the academy in scheduled blocks, typically lasting one week (Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 16:30). Attendance is required every day during these blocks. Blocks are planned every 6 to 8 weeks, and you will receive the dates in advance, allowing you to plan any holidays around them.
In the unfortunate instance that you cannot attend a block at the academy, we will work with you and your employer to ensure that you can catch up on missed learning, either through alternative arrangements or rescheduling. We’ll make sure that you stay on track with your training and ensure any gaps are addressed.
Yes, although we have limited parking. If you do choose to drive to the academy you must be respectful of the other businesses on the industrial estate and only park in TEAM Academy marked bays.
Yes, the academy is near to Aylesbury town centre with many public transport links.
TEAM Academy's expectations of you as an apprentice include:
Throughout the duration of the programme we will regularly assess your knowledge, skills and behaviour. This might be in the form of practical assessment, questioning, group work, discussions, project work etc. Everything we do on the programme has been designed to prepare you fully for your End Point Assessment from day 1.
End Point Assessment (EPA) is carried out at the end of the programme by an independent organisation. There will be a day of practical tasks (which will be things you have been learning about since day 1). The practical assessment is carried out in the academy so will be a familiar setting to you. You will also take part in a structured interview and the assessor will ask you questions to gauge your knowledge of technical subjects and your job role. You will build a portfolio of evidence of all the different jobs you have carried out throughout the duration of the apprenticeship and the assessor will base the interview around this.
Yes, extra support is available to you if you need it. Just let your Development Coach know what support you need when you sign up.
You will have a dedicated Development Coach that will support you every step of the way, you will also be able to speak to any of the staff at the academy about anything.
We will provide light refreshment and drinks when you attend your block but you will need to provide your main meal. There are plenty of food outlets nearby or you can bring lunch with you.
You must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while at the academy. At the very least, this should be steel toe capped boots (provided by your employer) and overalls. If you have a work uniform, you can wear that. We will provide you with any other PPE you'll need while you're at the academy.
Groups (or cohorts) are kept small, there'll be 12 apprentices per group and only 1 group in the academy at any time.
Depending on your progress, you could be ready for EPA in as little as 12 months. The EPA period is 3 months, so on average, your programme will be 15 months in total.
All the tools and equipment you need for your apprenticeship will be provided for you whilst you are in training. You may want to start investing in your own tools for the future.
No, but having a licence makes you more employable.
This is your starting point for the future. The opportunities are in your hands. After your apprenticeship, you could go on to work in Motorsport, specialise in electric or hybrid vehicles, or become a diagnostic expert. Some apprentices move into team leadership, train to become MOT testers or even start their own businesses. You might decide to keep learning and work your way up to Master Technician or into workshop management. Whatever you choose, this apprenticeship opens doors — and it’s just the beginning.
